thoughts: twenty-six

 Twenty-Six (26)

Tiramisu Mocha Chiffon from Paris Baguette
As I'm becoming older and moving into my mid 20s, my birthday celebrations are becoming less and less wild. No longer do I want to spend my night partying away at bars and lounges and waking up with smeared make up and sloppy hair. I find comfort in simple celebrations that leave me feeling content and satisfied. This year I move into the later half of the 20s. It is a little bit scary, a smudge regretful, and a big part happy. It is a wonderful mixture of feelings that leaves me thinking of all that I have done in the past year and looking forward to all the great endeavors I hope for the next year. This birthday is all about me and the best people in my life. It is a celebration of a few of my favorite things in the world. Enjoy!

Treated myself to some wildflowers from a local Trader Joe's. Brightens up the whole apartment.
Made myself a smoothie of almond milk, raspberries, and chia seeds.
The Lake. Spent a day walking Central Park, my favorite park in the world. Central Park is an absolute gem in that it preserves the wildness of what a park should be. Although it is usually swarmed with tourists, you can always find a hidden path behind the untamed trees.
The Belvedere Castle
Peek of the romantic and elegant Bow Bridge.
Sunday before the birthday was beautiful and well spent at Brooklyn's Kensington Stables. My first and only time horseback riding was when I was on a middle school trip to an upstate ranch. Fell in love immediately and have never forgotten the wonderful experience. On Sunday morning I was able to go with my sister to one of the few stables in the city for an hour long trail in Prospect Park. My horse's name was 15 year old Cody. His constant need to stop and munch on roadside food kept the trail lively. It was a nice easy ride and hopefully next time I would be on a ranch in an open field.
Cody and I smiling after the trail ride.
After the morning activity, we made our way back into Manhattan to West Village's Bosie Tea Parlor to meet our cousin. I have always wanted to try high tea and had read great reviews on Bosie. The tea parlor's decor was simple and the atmosphere was mellow, just the way I like it. Unfortunately we were so hungry from not having breakfast that we decided on substantial food over tea desserts. I ordered eggs florentine and greens, which tasted as delicious as it looks in the picture above.
After satisfying our stomachs, we decided it was time to satisfy our taste buds. Oolong tea with the Darjeeling Tart (scrumptious!!!), Hazelnut Sweet Pleasure, and Earl Grey Mille Crepes.
Mum's and iced chai tea
Spent birthday eve back at my parents' place making sushi with my sister and brother.

Flowers from my awesome sister because I told her the day before that I would like to get flowers.
This birthday I wish...
